St. Luke’s McCall has received the highest level of accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP).
Accreditation by the CAP is a symbol of quality, increasing the value of the lab to organizations, patients and customers. To receive CAP accreditation, a laboratory must demonstrate that it operates with the highest standards of quality, accuracy and consistency.
Surveyors from CAP were on site for two days in December to assess the McCall lab for accreditation. At the conclusion of the survey, the inspector noted zero deficiencies directly associated with processes and standard of practice.
McCall’s lab previously received its certificate of accreditation through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) and was inspected by the state of Idaho.
This year, CAP’s laboratory accreditation program was chosen because it accredits the entire spectrum of laboratory test disciplines using custom, scientifically rigorous checklist requirements.
“Receiving this certification is indicative of the pride the entire lab team takes in the care they provide our patients,” Laboratory Supervisor Wes Blackburn said.
